Spring arrived in Logan County at 6:44 this morning. And it is a beautiful day, - a bit on the nippy side, but the sun is shining; all the Spring-bloomers appear extremely happy, and the birds are keeping me busy filling the feeders. Hope as good a day for everybody.

Lucy, thanks for the reminder that Spring has arrived. You probably have crocus and daffodils blooming by now, which gives me hope that in about two weeks they will be here too. Other than LBJs (Little Brown Jobs), what birds do you have visiting your feeder?
As a matter of fact, that looks exactly like the crocus (croci, crocuses - ?) I had, but they've pretty much gone now. The daffodils are in full glory, and I have a few hyanciths. The Bradford pears have been especially pretty this year. We had a rash of planting those some years ago before anybody realized how brittle and short-lived they are, but the white blooms are wonderful. From my desk I can see my tulip magnolia, and the blooms on that seem to be opening as I watch.
I do consult my bird book (recommended by Keith), but I don't do very well in that department. They're mostly lbj's in my eye. I do hope my goldfinches return this year. There is one that I am trying to make something interesting, but I think is really a woodpecker - black and white with red head. It is pretty.
I did forget to mention that another bright spot is Western's first-round victory.
Glad to be reminded that Spring is here! It has been chilly here, too, but at least the monsoon season has passed for now. My jonquils (what I call daffodils) have been blooming. The birds are rowdy. I am seeing many cardinals on my boxwoods eating the bugs or whatever they are finding tasty out there. I enjoy seeing them even if the bug situation disturbs me. The cardinals are better exterminators than spray, I know. I have no bird feeders because I have cats, and there are strays in the neighborhood. Thanks, Lucy.
