Happy Valentine's Day

In memory of and tribute to those little boxed Valentines, - "Be My Valentine". I love any holiday that incorporates in any way the consumption of chocolate. And just think, - tomorrow it will all be half-price.

Lucy, I couldn't agree more about chocolates on Valentines. In fact, just looking at this picture stimulates my chocolate impulses. Yumm. Anyway, Happy Valentines to you and to all!

YUUMMmm is right. My heart-shaped box of chocolates is about a fourth gone already. I found them by my breakfast plate this morning, and after breakfast I dove in. I cannot leave chocolate alone if I know it's in the house. I think that's known as addiction. Happy, Happy Valentines Day to all. (By the way, I did share with Earl. I hope he eats more, so that he can get fat with me.

I, too, love chocolate of any kind and am trying to cultivate that in my grands. I gave each a miniature heart box of chocolates. I saw Casey eat one piece and asked for another immediately. His dad Jon said, "One a day," which is my method. The size of the box determines how much, even at one piece daily, that I gain. Thanks, Lucy. Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Perfect picture, Keith - exactly right. I cannot imagine the will power to only consume one piece of candy a day. Tommye, you're better than I am: I would have very likely eaten chocolate instead of breakfast.

A belated "happy chocolate day" to all. We have been "out of pocket" for a bit and am ready to return to the 82 degrees instead of snow and teens! I have a friend who gives me 6 or 7 bourbon balls for Christmas and I eat 1 or 2 bites every week or so and stretch them out till summer. Wierd, isn't it?

Goddard, I love bourbon balls. My mother made them every Xmas. Once for show and tell, Piper Ann prepared some and took them to school. My mother wasn't at all sure if that was appropriate. Piper Ann also asked a policeman who was at her school talking about drunk driving how many bourbon balls it would take before you were drunk. He supposedly stifled a giggle and claimed that he didn't know. Eat a bourbon ball for me and Piper Ann whose husband doesn't like bourbon balls. She now makes Kalua balls that I don't like as much as bourbon balls. Know you had a good trip to Hilton Head and the Everglades, wasn't it?

If I have six bourbon balls, I eat six bourbon balls - if I have eight bourbon balls, I eat eight bourbon balls. If I have twenty one bourbon balls - I would probably be very sick but you get the picture.

My sister always saved her candy and savored it over time and I have always eaten everything up right away - wish I were a better person but it is probably too late to change.

Reading this, I suddenly have a hankering for bourbon balls, but doubt that I can find them here on Sanibel. Closest thing would probably be a little sippin bourbon and chocolate balls...

Charlotte, I'm with you and Tommye. I can't imagine not eating chocolate immediately. "Life is uncertain. Eat desert first."
