Sad news.

We are all sad today; Hazel Carver has passed away. She was truly a remarkable lady. I remember her at all our major occasions, from kindergarten through high school graduation, and still recall those flutophones. Keith, Jean, and Cathy were here last month for the celebration of her 91st birthday. They are much in our thoughts tonight. As soon as I hear arrangements I will post them.

Lucy, thank you for letting us know. This is sad news indeed - Mrs. Carver lives on in all of us who remember her enthusiasm and seemingly boundless energy.

Another sad reminder that "for though the day be never so long the bells ringeth at last to evensong."

My heartfelt sympathy to Keith, Jean and Cathy. No matter how old we may grow losing our mother makes us feel like children again. They are all in my thoughts here.

I know we are all saddened by this news. I surely am and wish I could be there to express myself in person to Keith, Jean, and Cathy. Thanks to everyone in R'ville for keeping us posted.

My heartfelt sympathy to Keith, Jean and Cathy. I have fond memories of Mrs. Carver both for her band instructions and her choral groups. She was quite a lady and one who had my respect. God bless you all.

Thank you all for your kind words about Mother and your remembrances. Her funeral was an uplifting celebration of her life, long and fully lived. The deGraffenreid Chorale sang and Mother would have been very pleased.

Jean, Cathy and I and some of our 'kids' had a rare few days to get together.

I stayed with Jack and Betty, also had a chance to visit with Lucy, Gerry Johnson, and Andy who drove down for Mother's funeral. We didn't play our flutophones, though..

It was indeed a very uplifting service. The Chorale was such a special part of Mrs. Carver's life and work for the last thirty years. I was also impressed by the beautiful piano music of two of her students and thought it so fitting that you all included them in the service.

I am so pleased to know that the celebration for Hazel Carver was indeed a great occasion for all. Those of us who could not be there in person were there in spirit. The Carver family gave so much to the Russellville community. I am glad that Keith, Jean, and Cathy and grandkids have made it to their respective homes safely. Russellville folks are close and never forget. We laugh and cry together and are always there for each other--regardless of the time or the place.
