Rainbows

This week on Wednesday, NC has a topsy turvy weather day. It began with wind, rain, and cold. By lunch, it was warm, cloudy and breezy. By 4:00 p.m., we had hail and wind again and cold. As I was taking out my trash at 5:00, the most gorgeous rainbow spanned the northern sky. I wish each of you rainbows in the coming week.

Well, if you hadn't taken out the trash, you wouldn't have seen the rainbow. Occasionally we get rewarded for doing household duties. I took out our trash this morning. No rainbow, but I did see the sun glittering on our ice-covered trees - beautiful.

Ann, even though this isn't your northern rainbow, I added this photo to your post for a little color...

Ann, - What a nice thought. Rainy and gloomy day here, but at least no ice. I would love to see a rainbow; thanks for the photo reminder, Keith.

No rainbows in Rocky Somewhere this week but today was a lovely, sunny day. Sadly I think it was only a tease but at least tonight we don't need to swath the roses in pots on the side porch. Keeping these bands in pots over the winter is an interesting experiment, but I want some serious roses for my efforts come spring. We will see.

Keith, you keep asking about pictures of flowers but I am not a photographer. My older camera that I could use gave very poor quality pictures and the new one which I still have not mastered came too late. This spring if I have anything to share I will send Fred into the garden to record it. Unfortunately most of the pictures he took last year have me bending over or otherwise distracted in the background and I don't think when you ask for color that is exactly what you had in mind.

I am glad that you liked the stormy day followed by the rainbow. It seems to me to be a metaphor for life these days. We just have to keep looking for rainbows and, as Charlotte said, keep covering the rose pots to assure that when spring comes that we are again surrounded by blooms and beauty. Thanks for the added picture, Keith.

Charlotte, we'll be looking forward to some heritage rose pics from Rocky Somewhere, sometime this spring. Recruit Fred as your photographer, good idea! I have a lot to learn in the flora department, so anything you can post about your roses would be helpful.
