Keith, it is one thing to join this blog and another to find the time right now to post something to it. I hope with a little time you will see more interest and comments.
Thanks, David, I understand especially at Christmas time. But when you get time, let us hear from you and Marty. Was really nice to see you both at the reunion!
Flat on my back for the past two weeks - there is a light at the end of the tunnel here and when I get there I will talk - I can't help myself - it is what I do - ask anyone who has to listen to me. Ask the Trogs on the Greenville Reflector forum who cringe when the opinionated lotti pops up in their closed circle.
Charlotte, I hope you get to feeling better - soon! I can relate to being flat on the back for weeks - it happened to me this past summer. Anyway, when you're up to it, have at it, drop some opinionated lotti posts on this blog, stir us all up! I'll have to check up on the Trogs on the Greenville Reflector forum... Get well.
Thanks, Keith. I have a way to go but will hopefully be operational soon. My biggest regret is missing my planned trip to New York for the holidays - Lisa and William are there without me but the promise is we plan another trip in the spring.
The Reflector Board is long on politics and religion and short on original thought but there are some very thoughtful and interesting posters - and a number who are not so thoughtful but still interesting - it is pretty much a survivalist, Southern mentality but then I sort of grew up there after all.
I listened to The Magic Flute on Saturday but it was not quite like being there and other than downloading the soundtrack from ITunes I have no way to experience Billy Elliott. William was questioning whether he would enjoy it or not but based on the movie which he has not seen I think he will be captivated.
Happy, healthy New Year to you and to all of us. At our age health is the greatest gift - along with more time to look, listen and share.
We photographed a Pregrine Falcon in the yard yesterday - Lisa has one in Nashville but this is the first I have seen in Rocky Somewhere. I had one that sat on my upright piano for a time when I was growing up - illegal, but Daddy was always the one that people brought hurt birds too - this particular one went back to the wild although not all were so lucky. It was a reminder of the past to see this fierce beauty - drawn no doubt by the birds and squirrels that I attract with feeding trays this time of year. For some reason for me at least during the holidays the past seems almost close enough to reach out and touch.
Hopefully, you'll soon be back on your feet. A springtime trip to NYC sounds like fun - a great time to be in the city.
I'll look for posts on the Reflector Board ... and maybe will find your own contributions. Would be interesting to compare to the Yankee-independent posts we get here in western Mass.
The Magic Flute is one of my favorites, although I still haven't had the opportunity to see the elaborate (and expensive) production at The Met. Maybe this spring ... I didn't know there was a movie, will have to look for it.
And you're right about our health. It is an increasing preoccupation of all our lives at age 68. I suspect that if we did a health survey of the Class of '58, we'd get a very broad mix of ailments, surgeries, medications, and treatments - as well as how we're adapting our diet, exercise, etc. - to cope.
I love the story of a wounded peregrine on your upright piano!
